shipwrecked

I got my kids and relatives shipwrecked in Charleston Harbor!!!! As the captain of our rental boat I guess I should have noticed the sandbar out in the middle of open water. Obviously I did not. We had fun waiting to be rescued. We were actually beside the Pinckney Castle Civil War fort (this is on an island, I am trying my best to clear up the fact that I DID NOT just run us aground on the shore! We were in the middle of a huge harbor. Maybe it was a little bit of driver errror, but I say it mostly had to do with it being the lowest tide of the year. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.) People were on the island looking for civil war artifacts, so the boys explored while we were waiting to be rescued.

We saw several dolphins and 2 swam right up under our boat. We were having a fabulous time until I ran us aground on the sandbar. The tide went out so quickly that within minutes we were on dry land. A boat came to rescue us and couldn't get our boat to budge, so the kids and I rode to safety while my sister-in-law stayed with the boat waiting for the tide to come in. It did and she brought the boat back to the marina. It was hysterical. The only one to get distressed was Jack, who thought we were going to be there forever. Really we were only there for about an hour. (Christy was there for 2 or 3 hours!)
